LSH 2903 Final Reflection

1)        I volunteered at Future Center in Abu Dhabi (Mohamed bin Zayed). Future center is to help the disable people and to make their life easier and to develop there confidence by teaching them.

            When I first heard about the volunteering in Future Center I had a scared feeling I don not know way maybe because this it the first time I will sit with a disable people and I don know how they react and how they will contact with me. The first day when I went to the Future Center with my group all of us were nerves. Then they took each one of us to a different classes when I first entered my class the teacher came to me and starts ask me some questions but the students were not happy to see me. And I started with helping in math, however the next day when I came all the students came to me with a very big smiles and they said Hi. When I saw that I had a very great nice feeling I was very happy to see there love and there happens I learned that they want to contact with people but they want who will love them and who will help them when they need.

2)         The best thing is when you see them learning and when I see that I can help the community and the society with helping them and not only that the most good part is when they understand from you for example the teacher gave me pencils with different colors and she said teach Mohamed the colors I said okay and I started teaching him it was very hard maybe it took me for 2 hours then the teacher came and ask him when he answered correctly it was the best feeling I was very happy.

3)         You can be more creative for the community if you work from your heart not for the money and I had a great feeling when I saw that I can help the community with my studies.

4)         I learned a lot of things the first thing is the disable people are more kind and lovely before I thought that they are not kind and there behavior is bad but no they was more kind even more than the normal people they are very lovely. And I learned that they can be better and we must tell the world that they can be better and to they must take them to the Centers to developed there confidence.

Interview

me: why did you chose to be a special need teacher?

her: i wanted to be a special need teacher from the day i was very young and i wanted to work with these children because i love of being in special need and moreever i wanted to do something for the society and the community.

me: is it hard job?

her: it is up to you if you feel it's hard it's hard if you do it with your whole heart it's not hard but ofcaurse physically and mentally also it's little hard.

me: from when you are a special need teacher?

her: it's almost 20 years im a special need teacher.

me : from when you are here in Future Center?

her : from the day one we are few teacher started from here.

me: how many student graduated from Future Center?

her: see we dont say asseg graduation but yes at least 5 or 6 of my student they went for work they are working in different organization some government and some privet and they are getting a salary and some of them went to the normal school for higher studies.

me: how can we help the students ?

her: see you are young guys you can help the students by coming communicating with them by increasing there self confidence because that what they like the most they think they are not wanted in the society so when you come talk to them play with them maybe some times i would like you all guys do social gathering were they can meet outside because these children they have no place to go they have no friend so they need friend physically so you guys can help in that way.

me: what the best feeling you had as a teacher?

her: the best feeling is when they all love me a lot and when they care for me that is the best thing believe me they really talk care of me the way i take care of them they all tell me that you are my mother and they all love and when they do some thing nice and when they achieve there goals that makes me happy.

Volunteering at Future Center - Day #10

I went to the Future Center at 10:30 and that was my last day of volunteering I was feeling like "I don't I can't explain it". The boys they were at the kitchen they had a cookary class and they were
doing a potato sandwiches. And while there cooking the teacher said "that is the last day for Butti
for volunteering say thank you to him" and I can see from there faces that there was sad to hear
that and I feel so sad for that but then they shear with me there food. The sandwiches was very
tasty. Then we went to the class and I read a story for 3 boys and they enjoyed it after that I was
talking with all the boys and after that I said now I will go and they said bye we will miss you I
told them that I will miss them too. and I told them that I will come back.

Volunteering at Future Center - Day #9

That morning was very special because it was the volunteering day when I went there to the
future center I feel so happy because when I enter the class I can't see anything but smiles.
They are all smiling because I came I feel so good because I can make them smile. Then
I went to the teacher and I told her how can I help you to day and she told me can you help
Khizer with his english and I did it I reached him about what's living and what's non-living
and he was good. Then we went to the music class and we enjoy that class very much
because we sing to gather and some of them they like to dance. Then we went back to the
class and I keep chatting with the in Arabic because they enjoy talking in Arabic.

Volunteering at Future Center - Day #8

12-11-1014

That day was very special because Mr. Gregory will visit us at the future center. I went there at
 8:30am the boys were having there breakfast when they finished the teacher asked me what do
you want to do today I said no problem I can do anything you want then she told me can you teach
Mohamed math again and I said yes then she gave me a box. in said the box were a lot of sheet and it
 was a math gamed and I played with him so he can have fun and also he learn too. the guess what
Mr Gregory entered the class I was very happy to see him there and asked me about it and I said every thing is going great and he asked Mohamed too and it was great to see you there Mr. then we went to the kitchen be cause it is the cookery class. and they did a pasta and banana milk shake both were amazing and they gave me some and I enjoyed it.

 

That day was the longest hours I staid there from 8:30 to 12:30 it was amazing and I

enjoyed every single minute.

 

 

Volunteering at Future Center - Day #7

10-11-2014

It's time to go to the future center Ooooh. I was very exited that day because it was the future center day for the me. I went to the Future Center like every Monday at 10:00am and the boys were waiting
for me they did not do a party or something they were studding like always and the teacher told me
to teach Mohammed so Math and I did it was very hard to make him understand and it was easy thing
but it took me long time, however I was happy to make him learn by me it makes me feel great. Then the teacher asked me can you download national song for the us so we can use it at the national day. And I said sure why not and download some music and the I want back to the college at 12:30.
